Gardaí have confirmed that they are an investigating a burglary at the County Roscommon home.

A family in Lisacul have been badly shaken by an incident where an intruder in their home had come within close proximity of their young son who was watching television in a front room at the time.

Gardaí have confirmed that they are an investigating a burglary, which occurred at a house in Lisacul on Sunday last at approximately 6.20 p.m.. One of the parents and their young son were in the house at the time but were unaware of the intruder in their home.

Speaking to the Roscommon Herald, the parent confirmed that he didn’t know a man had gained entry to the house until a notification was sent to a security app on his wife’s phone. She had been attending a funeral at the time.

“It was a typical, nice quiet Sunday evening. My son was watching Postman Pat on the TV and I was in the kitchen, preparing food and watching the TV waiting for the Euro final, and unknown to me, this happened,” he explained.

There are cameras installed in the house, and while it’s believed the suspect left empty handed, the footage showed he had taken something from their vehicle outside. The ordeal has badly shaken the family.

“When I watched the footage back, someone walked into my house and walked down the hall. I didn’t sleep a wink on Sunday night thinking that some creep had his foot inside my house within fifteen foot of my son.”

The parents paid tribute to the Gardaí who came to their house on Sunday, and investigations are continuing.
