Thieves flee County Roscommon property after being disturbed by homeowner

Gardai in County Roscommon are investigating a break-in and an attempted break-in in the county on Friday afternoon.

In the first instance a house on the outskirts of Strokestown was broken-into between 1 p.m and 3 p.m.. A small amount of cash was taken.

An attempt was made to gain into a second property. However, the home was occupied at the time and the thieves fled the scene when they were disturbed.

Gardai are now analysing CCTV footage from the area and are appealing to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact them.

Gardai have confirmed that the alarm was raised by the homeowner shortly after 3 p.m. after two males were disturbed trespassing on the property.
