Critical water infrastructure upgrade works progressing in Athlone

To facilitate connection works of the new mains there will be a planned interruption to supply which may impact customers in Athlone and the surrounding areas tomorrow.

Uisce Éireann is making steady progress on a major upgrade to strengthen Athlone’s water supply by upgrading a trunk water main that connects Athlone Town Water Treatment Plant to the Annagh Reservoir.

This essential work will provide a safer and more reliable water supply for homes and businesses in Athlone.

To facilitate connection works of the new mains there will be a planned interruption to supply which may impact customers in Athlone and the surrounding areas tomorrow.

Approximately 600 customers in Priory Park, The Marina Village, Ashdale, Tormey Villas, Esker Park, Abbey Road Cottages, Old Coosan Road, Coosan Road, Woodland Grove, Assumption Road, Ardilaun, Coosan Point Road, Arcadia Court, Highfield Court, Arcadia Crescent, Beech Walk West, Slli An Aifrinn, Old Ballymahon Road, Ballymahon Road, Beech Park, Beechfield, Auburn Villas, Auburn Terrace, Beech Park West, Ardnaree, Montree, Marina View and the surrounding areas may experience a disruption to their supply from 11am to 2pm on Wednesday, 3 June.

Uisce Éireann’s Michael Mc Manus said, “We understand the inconvenience caused by an interruption to supply. Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works, and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation.

“Following the completion of the works, it can take two to three hours for normal water supply to return to customers as water refills the network, particularly for those properties on higher ground or at the end of the network.”
