Dates announced for 2026 Hot Air Ballooning Championships in Boyle
The Irish Hot Air Ballooning championships were a huge success when they came to Boyle last September.
The skies of County Roscommon are due to light up with hot air balloons again when the Irish Hot Air Ballooning Championships return to Lough Key outside Boyle.
Lough Key Forest and Activity Park has announced that from Sept 19th-25th, the county will see the return of the Irish Hot Air Ballooning Championships to the well-known park.

Following the tremendous success of the 2025 championships, this year’s event is expected to be even more vibrant, memorable, and community-driven.
The championships will bring together balloonists from across Ireland and abroad to compete in a series of skill-based challenges and breathtaking flights. Spectators can look forward to dawn ascents, dazzling evening balloon glows, and a wide range of family-friendly activities throughout the park.
Last year, up to 10,000 people attended the championships over the course of the week.
Roscommon County Council has provided essential funding to support the return of the festival to Boyle.
