Decision on proposed County Roscommon windfarm due today
The council is due to make a decision on the proposed windfarm in the Ballyfeeney/Kilglass area today.
There has been opposition to the proposed plans by Ballyfeeny Green Energy to build six wind turbines in the areas of Tully, Ballyfeeney, Pollymount, Bellanamullia, Scramogue, Treanaceeve, Ballyhubert, and Tooreen.
At a public meeting in September, Chairman of the Ballyfeeney Action Committee Conor Maher described the plans as “overkill” for the area and believes that they will have serious effects on the quality of life for those living there.
Cllr Tom Crosby said at the meeting that the project would be a disaster. “It is unthinkable we have to be forced to deal with this situation in a high amenity area. It is scandalous that this is being put on us.”
