Disqualified driver detected driving

The driver was put off the road for four years

A disqualified driver was fined €200 and put off the road for four years at a recent sitting of Roscommon District Court.

Frank Scott (69), with an address at 4 Aran Court, Galway Road, Roscommon Town, pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving without insurance and without a licence before Judge Vincent Deane.

The court heard that the accused was stopped by Garda Eanna Cuffe on October 7th, 2025 at Ballypheasan, Roscommon, as his vehicle’s tax had expired. When Garda Cuffe spoke to him, he noticed a strong smell of alcohol on his breath.

The accused's solicitor Sean Mahon said his client accepted he was disqualified from driving. He was also co-operative with gardaí and Mr Mahon asked the court for leniency.
