Seamus Gilleran has been appointed principal of the five teacher Brideswell National School.

The Minister for Education and Youth is visiting a number of schools around the county today.

Minister Hildegarde Naughton will officially open a new special classroom at Curraghboy National School in South Roscommon today.

She will also visit the SMART polytunnel which has been created to support pupils in their understanding and knowledge of STEM and sustainability related projects. A plaque to mark the opening of the special classroom at the school will be unveiled during the visit this afternoon.

The minister is also visiting the CBS in Roscommon Town, where she will see first-hand the work of the school community during a tour of the school.

Minister Naughton, who has significant connections with the Drum and Moore areas of South Roscommon, will also visit Castlerea Community School, where she will officially open special classes and take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. She will also see the newly refurbished science labs at the school.
