Emergency services attend serious accident in the county

Gardaí and emergency services are at a serious road traffic collision in the county.
The air ambulance is also in attendance at the scene, according to eye witnesses.
The accident happened this afternoon on the main Boyle to Carrick On Shannon road, between the Forest Park and the Ardcarne junctions.
Traffic is currently backed up on the N4 and motorists are advised to use caution and avoid the area if possible.
Diversions are in place via Knockvicar and Ardcarne and the road is due to reopen at around 7pm.
Gardaí have been contacted and the Herald will update this story as more details emerge.
