Fianna Fáil will not retain its second seat in North Roscommon.

Following the fourth count of the Boyle LEA, West Roscommon man Aidan Sampey was excluded and his 440 votes will be distributed to the other remaining candidates. FF had hoped to hold on to its two seats in the area, previously held by outgoing councillors John Cummins and Joe Murphy.

However, first time party candidate Sean Moylan is performing well and looks likely to be elected shortly.

The party will be down one seat in the council, unless FF candidate James Murray in the Athlone LEA can win out in the dog fight for the final place in South Roscommon.
