Flies causing problems for County Roscommon households

Flies are causing all sorts of problems for households in County Roscommon, according to the data from pest control provider Rentokil.

Rentokil has unveiled its 2023 pest callout data, highlighting rats, flies, and midges as the top three pests they dealt with last year and top of the problem list in County Roscommon was files.

Flies took the lead, making up 24% of the total callouts, with the Northwest region experiencing a large callout volume for fly-related service requests.

The high callout for flies in the Northwest region, which includes the counties of Roscommon, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Mayo, and Sligo, in 2023 emphasises the need for proactive pest management measures, according to the company.

Flies are recognised as pests due to the inherent health risks they pose to humans, pets, and livestock. Their ability to infest homes and businesses makes them vectors for diseases like Salmonella and E. coli, said Rentokil.
