Funeral details announced for former Roscommon footballer Don Connellan

The funeral details have been announced for former Roscommon and Kilmore footballer, Don Connellan (51), who passed away suddenly on Monday.

He will repose at his home in Drumaveg, Moycullen, Co Galway on Wednesday, August 6th, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Arriving for Requiem Mass on Thursday August 7th at 12 noon to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Moycullen. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Predeceased by his father Donal, Don was a devoted husband to Linda and loving father to their two precious boys, Eoin and Conor.

He is also sadly missed by his mother Ellen (Nellie), brothers Adrian and David; mother-in-law Mary Clancy; his sisters-in-law Jacinta, Catherine, Ailish, Johanna, Laura, and brothers-in-law Paul, Gearoid and Gareth; his nieces and nephews Rachael, Cathal, Lilly, Jamie, Lily, Luke, Ellen, Finn, Mason and Cooper; aunts and ancles, cousins, the extended Connellan and Clancy families; his colleagues and friends in An Garda Siochana and the GAA community in Kilmore, Roscommon, Moycullen and Galway.

A poignant message on the funeral notice read: “Our hearts are broken to share the unexpected and sudden passing of Don Connellan of Drumaveg, Moycullen Co Galway and formerly of Clooncoose, Hillstreet, Carrick on Shannon, Co Roscommon at Galway University Galway on August 4th, 2025.”
