Handbag snatched over the weekend in the county

A woman had her handbag snatched over the weekend in the county.

Gardaí in Ballaghaderreen received a report of the theft of a handbag from a woman at Barrack Street, Ballaghaderreen, at around 7:10pm on Sunday, 23rd February.

It contained a sum of cash, keys and bank cards. There were no injuries reported.

Cllr Micheál Frain, who was informed of the incident, said he is again calling for more Gardaí on the beat in the North Roscommon town.

“There have been a spate of incidents in the town, from serious assaults to thefts, and we need more Gardaí here to prevent them,” the independent councillor said.
