RSA has asked drivers to stay cautious during weather warning

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has asked road users to exercise caution while using the roads this Thursday and Friday.

A Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for County Roscommon as Storm Austen approaches.

The weather alert comes into effect at 7 p.m. on Thursday and remains in place until the extended time of 10 a.m. on Friday.

As the storm approaches, the RSA reminded drivers to slow down and allow for a greater braking distance in the wet conditions.

Drivers were also warned not to attempt to drive through flooded roads, and to be aware of objects being blown out onto the road.

The heavy rain associated with Storm Austen is expected to move eastwards across the country.
