The National Lottery has confirmed that the holder of a €1 million ticket purchased last month at SuperValu in Monksland has come forward to claim his prize.

A spokesperson said the man from County Westmeath was "over the moon" after collecting the top prize in the Daily Million draw held on Monday, March 30th.

"I only play the Daily Million game now and again, so I didn't even realise there had been a top prize win that night. It still doesn’t feel real!," the man said.

“I have a few plans in mind for the win. Doing up the garden has been on the list for a while, but I know that I will definitely help family out too. A bit of travelling would be nice – I’d love to visit Canada and America,” he said.
