Late Robbie Walsh was ‘one of life’s true gents and characters’

The late Robbie Walsh.

There is a deep sense of shock and sadness in the Roscommon Town area following the sudden death on Wednesday of “one of life’s true gents and characters — the kind of person who lit up a room the moment he walked in”.

Robbie Walsh of Sleaveen, Golf Links Road, Roscommon Town passed away suddenly on October 21st.

Hundreds of tributes have been paid to Mr Walsh with all who knew him saying he had “an infectious smile and a ready laugh that could turn even an ordinary chat into something memorable. He had a way of making people feel at ease, and his warmth and humour left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.”

The management and staff at Brennan’s Centra in Roscommon said that “Robbie was so much more than a regular customer to us. He was a familiar face, a great character and a friend to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

“He was always in good form, never short of a bit of craic, and always made time for a chat with whoever was working, it didn’t matter who it was. Those everyday conversations and laughs made Robbie so special to us all. We are truly shocked and saddened by his passing, and he will be greatly missed by every one of us here in Centra.

“Our heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to the Walsh family, Robbie’s friends and all who knew and loved him during this very difficult time. You’ll be sadly missed, but always fondly remembered by us all.”
