A County Roscommon woman, who passed away suddenly last weekend, has been remembered for her dedicated service to ladies’ football in the county.

Patricia Manning (née Sullivan) had been due to be an umpire at one of last weekend’s Roscommon LGFA ladies’ football finals.

In a tribute, Roscommon LGFA said that “Patricia was a long-standing delegate to Roscommon LGFA and gave many years of dedicated service to ladies' football in the county. She was also a familiar face at games, regularly umpiring alongside John Martin, and was due to officiate again on Sunday.

“Her daughter Carol proudly represented Roscommon as a player and later managed our county minor team.”

As a mark of respect to Patricia and her family, a minute’s silence was observed before last Saturday’s county senior ladies’ football final between St. Brigid’s and Clann na nGael in Ballyleague.

St. Faithleach’s GAA Club said that the late Patricia Manning played “a huge role for many years” in its ladies’ teams.

She will be very sadly missed by her family, including husband Tony, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

She was laid to rest in Cloontuskert Cemetery on Wednesday.
