A major power outage is currently affecting homes and business in Strokestown.
The town and surrounding areas have been affected by a power cut since this morning.
Local senator Eugene Murphy said that residents and local businesses are annoyed as the major outage came unannounced.
“This is a very busy weekend for the town and people are annoyed. It’s not the first time this has happened and there was no notice this was going to happen,” he said.
Senator Murphy said he had been informed that electricity may not be restored until this evening.
