Major public realm enhancement works planned for Carrick-on-Shannon
Provision of a skatepark is included in the plans.
Plans for the development of the People’s Park and the Linear Park in Carrick-on-Shannon which include a skatepark, basketball court, looped wall and a new park have been announced by Leitrim County Council.
The Part 8 Public Realm Enhancement Works include alterations to the existing People’s Park (east of Circular Road) to facilitate a new signature playground including play areas for younger and older children, a skatepark, viewing platform, covered seating area, basketball court, looped walkway, and gateway signage together with the provision of play equipment, new footpaths and paved areas, seating, public lighting, new boundary treatments, planting, and all associated services, site development and landscaping works.
The plans also feature public realm enhancements to existing the Linear Park South (N4 Dublin – Sligo road) to include a gathering space with paved seating areas, a boardwalk/viewing platform, new footpaths, street furniture, planting, public lighting and upgrading of existing footpaths and all associated services, site development and landscaping works.
Provision of a new park off the N4 Dublin – Sligo road (Linear Park North) to include new footpaths, new boundary treatments, public lighting and all associated services, site development and landscaping works are also included.
Further public realm enhancements to the green area adjoining the Attifinlay Roundabout are also planned including new footpath, seating, planting, gateway signage and all associated services, site development and landscaping works.
The proposed development is being sought by Leitrim County Council, in conjunction with the Carrick-on-Shannon Town Team.
Plans and full particulars of the above proposed development) will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, until Thursday 11th June 2026 inclusive, during public opening hours, at Leitrim County Council, Áras an Chontae, St. George’s Terrace, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, N41 PF67.
