Memorial plaque to appeal for information on Roosky man’s death

Liam Farrell was a hard-working, humble man who had great faith.
The family of 87-year-old Roosky farmer Liam Farrell, who was found dead in suspicious circumstances five years ago, will unveil a memorial plaque at his home this morning, Sunday, which will appeal for public information.
The plaque will be unveiled by family members and friends after Mr Farrell’s fifth anniversary Mass this morning in Bornacoola at 11 a.m.. It will comprise a photograph of Mr Farrell and his dog Marley along with the Garda confidential number, 1800 666 111.
The Farrell family believe their father was the subject of an assault before he suffered a heart attack at the back door of his home.

An inquest into Mr Farrell’s death in September heard that he was discovered by family members at his home on January 13th, 2020. He was covered in blood with his shoes and socks removed, his watch broken and bruising to his left eye and his feet. The jury recorded an open verdict into his death.
Before Christmas, Ballina based Superintendent Peter Conlon, the senior investigating officer (SIO) appointed by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris to re-examine the original investigation, met with the Farrell family for the first time at his request.
