More frustration in Cloonfad following latest burst water main

Uisce Eireann is dealing with a burst water main in Cloonfad.

Work is underway to restore normal water supply to customers in Cloonfad following a burst water main in the village on Friday morning.

Crews are on site carrying out repairs and every effort is being made to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible.

“We know this supply disruption is frustrating, and we apologise to customers for the impact it is having this morning. Our immediate priority is to restore water supply to affected homes and businesses as quickly as possible,” said Ger Greally, Uisce Éireann’s Water Treatment Operations Manager for County Roscommon.

Repairs are expected to be completed on Friday afternoon and water supplies will return gradually over the following hours as the network refills. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the system fully recharges.

While crews work to repair the burst and restore supply to customers today, Uisce Éireann continues to progress a crucial 5km water mains replacement project in Cloonfad aimed at addressing the underlying causes of the recurring bursts and supply disruptions in the area.

Approximately 40 per cent of the project has now been completed, with more than 2km of old and damaged water mains already replaced. These works will help reduce the risk of future outages and deliver a more reliable water supply for the community.
