The main contractor for the €450m N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue road scheme is currently seeking to fill key positions for the project.
Wills Bros Ltd, the Mayo-based civil works company, has recently advertised for experienced quantity surveyors.
In a recent job advertisement, the company said: “We have recently commenced the design and build contract for the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue road project, currently one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country.
“The commercial team working on site in Roscommon have vacancies for the following candidates, experienced quantity surveyors.” The advertisement outlined that the successful candidates will have five to10 years experience, preferably in civil engineering, possess the relevant commercial and technical skills and work well as part of a busy site team on site.
“They will report to the project commercial manager combined with extensive interaction with other disciplines in the wider design and build team,” said the company.

Works on this major scheme came to a sudden standstill in early 2022 following the collapse of the main contractor Roadbridge.
Roscommon County Council cancelled the contract with the Limerick-based construction company after the company went into receivership. Following a new tender process, the main construction contract for the scheme was awarded to Wills Bros. Ltd last November.
The N5 project involves the construction of approximately 34km of new single carriageway road that will extend from the western end of the existing N5 Ballaghaderreen Bypass to the townland of Scramogue in County Roscommon, bypassing the towns and villages of Frenchpark, Ballinagare, Tulsk and Strokestown.
Provision will also be made for pedestrian and cyclist facilities where the route meets access points to some of the towns along the route.
Since 2008 there have been 12 fatal and 14 serious collisions on the current route, with the most recent fatality having occurred last July.
According to Roscommon County Council, the new road will greatly enhance one of the most important national primary routes in the county, improving traffic connectivity between east and west and serve as one of the main arterial routes to the western region.
