Nationwide weather warning extended until Friday midnight

The nationwide low temperature and ice warning has been extended until midnight on Friday.

This morning Met Éireann extended the warning by 12 hours until Friday 12 am. A nationwide snow-ice warning is also in effect until tomorrow at noon. 

The forecaster is warning of hazardous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot and travel disruption.

Roscommon County Council is advising people to be cautious during the cold weather and to take care on the roads and footpaths. It is also asking people to check on elderly, vulnerable and isolated neighbours.

The weather in Connacht today will continue to be cold with widespread frost. There will be sunshine and scattered showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow. Top temperatures will generally be ranging from 2 to 5 degrees.

Tonight will see clear spells and frequent sleet and snow showers. There will be widespread frost and ice with lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees in moderate west to northwest winds.
