Met Éireann is warning of difficult travel conditions and poor visibility

Met Éireann issued a yellow rain warning for Dublin and Wicklow.

It comes as the country, particularly the south east, has been battered by extensive rain over the last week.

Earlier, the National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG) and its related subgroups met again to continue to assess the flooding situation and prepare for the risk of further flooding this week.

After several days of persistent rainfall, the River Suir has risen, with overtopping in several areas.

The warning is valid from 2am until 8am on Tuesday.

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins paid tribute to gritting teams working on the road network.

Roads in many parts of the country are treacherous on Monday morning after temperatures dipped to as low as minus six degrees in some places.

Five counties have been under a status yellow snow and ice warning since midnight

Met Éireann has issued a warning to Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Monaghan, and Cavan until midday on Thursday.

The warning for counties Clare, Galway and Kerry will come into effect at 9pm on Sunday

A Met Éireann warning for high temperatures will take effect in 14 counties at 12pm

The high-temperature alert will be in place from 12pm on Friday until 6am on Saturday

Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, and Sligo will be under the yellow rain warning until 9pm on Thursday, while Leinster and Waterford's warning will expire at 6pm.

The alert will be in place until 8pm on Monday

After tonight, however, there's a change on the way

Very cold nights with widespread frost, ice and lying snow can be expected until Friday.

The nationwide low temperature and ice warning has been extended until midnight on Friday. This morning Met Éireann extended the warning by 12 hours until Friday 12 am. A nationwide snow-ice warning is also in effect until tomorrow at noon.
