Four community projects in County Roscommon have received more than a quarter of a million euro.
This morning during a visit to County Roscommon to open a number of rural development projects funded by his department, Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary announced over €17 million to deliver 212 community projects nationwide through the Community Recognition Fund.

Roscommon County Council Cathaoirleach Paschal Fitzmaurice said he was “absolutely delighted” to have received the news. He added that the funding of €73,000 was on foot of an application he made for extra equipment and amenities at the pool.
The application includes the provision of outdoor showers, solar panels, staff facilities, extra pool thermal covers, and extra shelters.
“I want to thank Minister Calleary for the announcement and Roscommon County Council for all their help,” the Fianna Fáil councillor said. “Thanks so much to Susan Gaynor from the Castlerea Town Team who helped with the application, which we made through the town team. This is a great day for Castlerea and West Roscommon.”
