A popular coffee shop based on Bridge Street in Carrick-on-Shannon has announced that it is to close as its lease is not being renewed.
No final closing date has been confirmed for Sonnies' Coffee House, but the business says customers will be updated as soon as further information becomes available.
Announcing the closure, the team said it was not the ending it had hoped for and thanked customers for their support throughout Sonnies’ journey.
Every coffee bought, visit, recommendation and kind word had helped the business grow, it said, adding that the friendships and everyday moments shared with customers had made Sonnies about “so much more than coffee and food”.
The statement also paid tribute to staff for their hard work and friendship, and for the memories created along the way.
Customers have been encouraged to call in for their favourites and a chat during Sonnies’ final weeks.
The social media statement from the business reads: “As many of you already know, it’s with a heavy heart that I announce Sonnies will be closing its doors shortly, as unfortunately, our lease is not being renewed. It is certainly not the ending we wanted. We don’t have a confirmed closing date just yet, but we will keep you all updated as soon as we know more.
“We want to say the biggest thank you to every single customer who has supported Sonnies throughout our journey. Whether you’ve been with us since day one or only discovered us recently, every single one of you has played a part in making Sonnies what it is today.
“Every coffee bought, every visit, every kind word, every recommendation and every bit of support has meant more than you will ever know. You’ve helped us grow, supported our dream and given us so many memories that we will always look back on with a smile. “Sonnies has been about so much more than coffee and food, it’s been about the people who walked through our doors, the friendships made and the little moments that made it all worthwhile. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey and for making Sonnies so special.
“A special thank you also goes to our amazing team. Sonnies wouldn’t have been the same without you. Thank you for the hard work, the laughs, the friendships and all the memories made along the way. I am so grateful to every one of you for being such a huge part of Sonnies, it truly wouldn’t be what it is without each and every single one of you. You all truly have been an amazing team & I couldn’t have had better beside me during this journey.
