A 26-year-old bricklayer was fined a total €700 and disqualified from driving by Judge James Faughnan at Ballaghaderreen District Court.
Niall James McNicholas, Bushfield, Kiltimagh, Mayo was stopped by Sergeant Shane Kelliher on May 4th, 2025 at Aghadrestan, Roscommon.
The court heard he had no insurance, NCT or tax on the vehicle. The car had been off the road for six months and he had missed direct payments to the insurance company.
The judge said: “They put the disc on the windscreen and hope for the best.”
Solicitor Kenneth McDonnell also said his client had been going to visit his child on the day. The judge disqualified Mr McNicholas for two years for no insurance and fined him €500. He also imposed a €100 fine on each of the charges of failing to have NCT and tax on the vehicle.
