Fr. Ted, Fr. Dougal and Mrs. Doyle returned to Glinsk for a promotional video for the Glinsk mega draw.

The various clubs and committees of the village of Glinsk recently came  together to launch the 2025 Glinsk Community Fundraiser. The fundraiser has two parts, the great Glinsk Truck and Tractor Run, which takes place tomorrow, Sunday December 28th and a mega draw with the top prize a beautifully restored 6211 Zetor tractor or €10,000 in cash.

The fundraiser is part of an on-going drive to improve the facilities in the community with every cent raised going towards the continued development of the community centre campus.

Already the groups have raised significant sums of money over the last number of years and with that money improved facilities, built a walking track with floodlights, a community gym, children’s playground and improved the facilities at the GAA ground by installing floodlights, ball stop nets and a spectator fence.

The next phase of the development, which is already underway, includes a 160-space carpark to serve the crèche, community centre, GAA clubs, and the community at large.

Other plans in the pipeline include a brand new 80m X 50m outdoor community astro pitch and the addition of another 600 meters of tarmacadam floodlit path to link up with the existing walking track.

“We have been very fortunate in Glinsk to receive the backing of several local companies, in particular PJ and Mary Fahy of ECC Timber have been incredibly generous to us, but we must continue to fundraise and that’s why we are here again with the Glinsk Community Fundraiser 2025,” said a spokesperson for the groups.

The truck and tractor run takes place on Sunday, December 28th with registration at 11.30 a.m. at the community centre F45 PX24 in Glinsk and roll out at 1 p.m. On the day there will be a truck run, tractor run, vintage tractor run, vintage car display and run as well as food stalls, music and craic.

If you have a truck or tractor, organisers want to see you in Glinsk. Entry to the truck or tractor run will gain entry into the draw for the 6211 Zetor.

Later that night in the Glencastle Lounge from 8 p.m. the mega draw will take place with music being provided by the Roscommon Men’s Choir from 9 p.m. and Bill Haugh taking to the stage afterwards.

The mega draw with first prize Zetor 6211 or €10,000 will take place at 11 p.m. sharp. Second prize is a children’s outdoor jungle gym or €1,000 in cash and third prize is a hotel and spa voucher for Dunboyne Castle worth €500.

Over 50 people volunteered to go to the marts and over 100 ticket sellers are out and about with physical tickets.

In addition to the physical tickets, there is also have an online link and to help boost sales a number of social media videos were produced with Fr. Ted, Fr. Dougal and Mrs. Doyle back again to help. Celebrity friend Baz Ashmawy also did a short video to help boost sales.
