Rubbish dumped in a resident's garden in Ballintubber.

Rubbish dumped illegally in a resident’s garden in Ballintubber a few days ago has caused anger locally.

Ballintubber Tidy Towns said it was extremely disappointing to find this "absolute mess" in somebody’s garden and reminded people that dumping rubbish was illegal with fines imposed.

“The litter warden will be informed and those responsible will be identified. Totally unacceptable behaviour.

“Please get in touch if you have information and support us to ensure that this does not happen again. We are all responsible for our own rubbish,” said the Tidy Towns committee in a social media message.

Kenny’s Bar, Ballintubber, in an online message, said the local Tidy Towns committee was not happy to see this mess and neither were the occupants of the house.

“A lot of voluntary hard work and long hours have gone into keeping Ballintubber to the highest standard possible and this is not at all acceptable but we are contacting the litter warden.

"This has also happened on two other roads lately and especially on the Castleplunkett Road out a little from the village where people are also disposing of used nappies. This is an absolute disgrace.

“Please if your rubbish doesn't fit in your closed bin don't leave it out as cats and dogs may attack it. Please adhere to keeping our village tidy at all times and especially now as the adjudicators are judging,” said Kenny’s Bar.
