School appeals for new pupils over closure fears
Fears have raised over the future of Slatta National School.
A local national school has made an appeal for more students in a bid to avoid closure.
Slatta school needs new pupils across all its classes, or it will have to close permanently in June. The Board of Management, staff and pupils are hoping the school can re-open next September. To do that, the school needs viable enrolment numbers.
In its appeal the schools states, “Slatta school has served our community for generations. It has high quality support for wellbeing. The school is only seven minutes from Rooskey.
“Parents of school age children - the future of the school is in your hands!”
To find out more: call in or phone 071 9638818 or talk to parents of current pupils. Enrolment deadline 6th February 2026.
