The search for a new leaseholder for Durkin's, the popular local bar and restaurant in Ballaghaderreen, is set to begin.
The current leaseholder of Durkin's, who managed the business for the last five years, announced this morning on social media that he will be finishing up in the middle of next month.
There are hopes that the popular outlet will come under new management in the near future.
In a sudden announcement made on social media this morning, Tuesday, the current leaseholder said that due to a situation beyond his control, Durkins and Square1 Cafe on The Square would close on July 18th next.
The full message reads as follows:
"Dear valued customers and friends, it is with deep regret and heartache that I announce the closure of Durkin's and Square1 Cafe on July 18th due to a situation beyond my control.
"It has been a real privilege to have been part of our customers' special occasions, birthdays, christenings, engagements, and even a school relocation.
"I have been blessed to have made great friends from our wonderful customers and am humbled by the amount of support received over the past five years from the community of Ballaghaderreen and all the surrounding areas.
"Being able to sponsor and support so many local clubs and organisations over the past years has been an honor.
"To the real MVP’s, the amazing staff that I have had the immense pleasure to work alongside, I am proud to call you my friends. We shared many fun times, and many laughs. Thank you for caring about the business as much as I did and for the huge part you all played in making Durkin's a special place to visit.
"For anyone with any outstanding vouchers please bring them in to use before July 18th. We look forward to seeing and serving you all over the next month.
Thank you all again."
