Snow in the forecast for County Roscommon

Met Éireann has issue a rain/snow warning for County Roscommon on Saturday.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain/snow warning for County Roscommon on Saturday.

After one of the wettest days of the year so far on Thursday, a Status Yellow ice warning for tonight (Friday), which will see temperatures fall between -1c and -3c, will be followed by the possibility of snow falling across the county on Saturday.

Met Éireann says that rain will be heavy at times and will turn to sleet and snow alongside strengthening winds.

As a result, difficult travel conditions and poor visibility are expected.

The Status Yellow rain/snow warning, which covers Connacht, Cavan, Donegal and Longford, comes into effect at noon on Saturday and lasts until midnight.

It remains to be seen if the predicted adverse weather conditions disrupt this weekend's sporting fixtures, with the Roscommon senior footballers due to play Armagh in King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park on Sunday.
