There’s no better way to take a break than with the latest edition of the Roscommon Herald.

That’s exactly what walkers John Connelly and Kitty Ross decided to do as they took a rest from their charity trek to Knock as part of the Mary’s Meals annual fundraiser.

Earlier today the local group departed from Roscommon Town as they joined others from all over the country who were making trek to the Marian Shrine in Knock.

This year celebrates 14 years of the Step by Step to Feed the Next Child Walk. Each year, people from all over Ireland join the walk, raising vital funds to help feed hungry children in some of the world’s poorest communities.

This year's group includes walkers from Tipperary, Donegal, Cork, Leitrim, Sligo, Portlaoise and Roscommon.

The trek takes place over nine days, with the walkers expected to arrive in Knock on Saturday.
