The Kiltoom and Cam Parish offered it deepest condolences to Mr Reidy’s family.

“Martin was a true friend to all. He loved our community, and one of the greatest pleasures he had was to service our parish as a deacon,” Fr Michael McManus wrote.

“He always said it was a privilege to baptise, to share God's word through preaching and just sharing God's love with all those he came into contact with. On behalf of our Bishop Kevin Doran, the priests and deacons of our diocese we offer once again our condolences. Martin, may you hear the words of Christ, 'Well done, good and faithful servant, enter the kingdom prepared for you'. That is the promise of our faith. Martin rest in peace.” The Diocese of Elphin also offered its condolences.

“Martin served eighteen years in the Irish Defence Forces. The words ‘officer’ and ‘gentleman’ are often used in the same sentence, and Martin was certainly a gentleman. In 1996, Martin set out on a new career path, which led to his becoming a solicitor. The experience he gained in his two careers contributed to the gifts he was able to place at the service of the Diocese of Elphin as a Deacon.” Following four years of formation, Martin was ordained Deacon in the Church of the Risen Christ, Kiltoom, on December 17th 2017. Following his ordination Bishop Kevin assigned Martin to assist in the parish of Kiltoom and Cam, and also asked him to undertake further studies. Just two years ago, he completed a Licentiate in Canon Law, which was awarded by St. Paul's University, Ottawa. Martin undertook to serve at the Regional Marriage Tribunal, assisting couples to resolve their canonical situation following marriage breakdown.
