Unique fundraiser for Roscommon animal sanctuary

Turning the mystery of Lola's DNA into a fun fundraiser
Unique fundraiser for Roscommon animal sanctuary

Lola is a special rescue dog.

A very unique fundraiser has just been launched in Croghan.

Eight years ago, the Nugent Family welcomed a very special rescue dog named Lola into their home and since that day she has become a much loved member of the family.

A mixed breed dog, Lola is absolutely gorgeous, extremely clever and has a very unique look. So many people have asked about her breed that the Nugent family decided to get a canine DNA test done for Lola and satisfy everyone’s curiosity. Now they are turning that mystery into a fun fundraiser to support the place where it all began – Fairyglen Community Animal Sanctuary run by the dedicated Marie Healy and her amazing team of volunteers.

This fundraiser invites you to put your detective skills to the test. Can you guess the four breeds found in Lolas DNA ? It costs €10 to enter (you can enter as many times as you like to increase your chances). There is a wonderful prize of a weekend away at Kilronan Castle for the person who guesses correctly or comes closest to the actual results.

It’s simple to participate and every cent goes directly towards helping the sanctuary with vet bills and food for the animals in their care.

1. Just visit www.idonate.ie,

2. Search for the campaign ‘Guess Lola’s Breed’,

3. Make your €10 donation,

4. Important – in the message box list your guesses for the 4 key breeds in Lola’s DNA .

The goal is to raise €2000 to support the lifesaving work at the Fairyglen Community Animal Sanctuary. Whether you donate or share this post your support makes a massive difference to the sanctuary animals waiting for their forever homes.

This fundraiser runs until May 29th 2026 after which time the winner will be announced along with Lola’s full breed report.
