Votes of sympathy extended at Boyle Municipal District meeting
Members paid their tributes at the recent Boyle MD meeting.
Sympathies were expressed to the family of Michael Hanly by members of Boyle Municipal District (MD) at a recent meeting.
Mr Hanly of Callow, Frenchpark passed away on January 23rd in the care of the Plunkett Nursing Home with his family by his side.
MD Cathaoirleach, Cllr Sean Moylan, said he was a member of a well-known family who are highly respected in the community.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, infant son Michael, parents Tom and Winifred, brother Sheamus and sister Mona. He is survived by his sons, Adrian, Tommy and Gary; daughters, Deirdre, Orla and Cora; brothers, Jackie, Percy and sister, Eileen; grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends.
Mass took place at St Bridget’s Church, Breedogue with burial in Kilnamanagh Cemetery.
A vote of sympathy was also passed to a member of the staff of Roscommon County Council, Cathriona MacCarthy from the Community and Enterprise section, following the sad passing of her 35-year-old brother Sean Keaney.
Mr Keaney tragically died in a drowning accident off a beach in Australia on New Year’s Eve.
Cllr Leah Cull said it was a very sad time for the family. All councillors offered their deepest sympathies to the late Mr Keaney’s family.
Mr Keaney was originally from Derrin Lower, Ballinagh, Cavan but was living in Hanwell, London at the time of his passing.
Tara GFC, for whom he played for the past four years, described his death as “heartbreaking” and that he had left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
He is remembered as a man who that could light up a room with a smile and a laugh that could warm anyone’s heart.
