The Minister for Education and Youth Helen McEntee visited St. Coman’s Wood primary school in Roscommon Town today, to pledge her support for a €2m extension and a car draw to raise funds for a new all-weather pitch.

The school extension project, comprising three classrooms, a resource room and sensory room, was announced about two years ago. Principal Úna Feeley hoped that that Minister McEntee would soon announce the go-ahead for the extension on the senior site.

She explained that the Stage 2B report which is the last stage for approval by the Minister’s department, was forwarded on July 2nd last.

“So we are waiting for the 'go ahead'. Minister McEntee, if you could push this forward on our behalf we will be forever grateful,” said the principal.

Minister McEntee also wished the school the very best with its car draw raffle, in association with Dermot Hughes Ltd., to raise funds for a new all-weather pitch.

The Minister received a warm welcome from the school's Board of Management, teachers and children.
