The people of Ballaghaderreen were thanked for their support as the local pool in the town was officially opened today, Friday, under the new name, The Splash Pool Ballaghaderreen.
The pool on the site of the former Abbeyfield Hotel reopened for the first time in more than two years at the end of last month, and today's grand opening was performed by local Sinn Féin TD Claire Kerrane and Chairperson of Aurivo, Raymond Barlow.
In a long list of thank yous, Splash Swim Schools CEO Bríd Graham extended her appreciation to husband John and all the pool staff for their hard work in ensuring the pool would reopen.
During her address, she also had special words for the people of the town.
“I want to thank the people of Ballaghaderreen who from the very beginning have been so enthusiastic and so happy that we were rebuilding this place," she said.
Local people and families are benefitting from a range of new services, including swim fit sessions, aqua aerobics along with infant, toddler, child and adult water confidence and swimming lessons.
Bríd is also pleased that their pool is catering for people with special needs, including service-users from the Brothers of Charity.
