Poll: Do you support the legalisation of cannabis for recreational use?

At the end of last year, Fianna Fáil defended its proposal to decriminalise the possession of cannabis after Labour accused the party of being "all over the shop on the issue".

Fianna Fáil's election manifesto called for the decriminalisation of cannabis, however Fine Gael continues to be at odds with its coalition partner over the issue.

At the time, Fianna Fáil leader and current Taoiseach Micheál Martin told reporters he was “surprised” at negative reaction to the policy.
