Roscommon's U-16 ladies footballers were left to rue a flat opening half display as their attempts to reach a first U-16 B All Ireland final since 2015 came up short.
Albert Looby's side kicked a solitary point in the first half as they trailed Waterford 0-7 to 0-1 at the interval in the U-16 B semi-final at Gracefield GAA grounds, County Offaly.
The occasion appeared to get the better of Roscommon in the first period as they were guilty of too many unforced errors and making the wrong decision when in possession.
They produced a much improved final half display as despite a Clodagh Power goal helping Waterford lead 1-9 to 0-1 early in the final half, Roscommon chipped away at the lead to force a tense finale.
After falling 11 points in arrears, Roscommon threw off the shackles with substitute Vivienne Gannon netting less than 30 seconds after he introduction.
Two Laura Glennon frees kept Roscommon interest alive before replacement Amy Rogers forced the ball over the line in the 60th minute to slash the deficit to three points.
However, Sarah Barry raced through to slam home a game clinching goal before a Power free ensured Roscommon's brave fightback was not enough.
