Former Roscommon footballer Shane Curran has been appointed as the new Carlow football manager for 2025.

Carlow GAA have announced on social media that the St. Brigid’s clubman will take charge of the Division Four side next year, subject to ratification at the next county board meeting.

Curran was part of the St. Brigid’s side that secured All Ireland glory in 2013.

He replaces Niall Carew as the county's new senior boss, who stepped down after five years at the helm.

Carlow Chairperson Jim Bolger stated his delight at Curran taking the reigns of Carlow’s flagship side in 2025.

"I am delighted that Carlow GAA have secured the services of Shane Curran as Senior Football Team Manager. I believe Shane's commitment and passion as a player, which continued into his career as a coach and a manager, will have a hugely positive effect on the Carlow Senior Football Team.

"Shane's unwavering energy and enthusiasm will hopefully drive Carlow's ambitions to new heights and on behalf of all in Carlow GAA I want to wish Shane and his team the very best of luck going forward into 2025."
