New Roscommon hurling manager set to be ratified

Brian Hanley is set to be ratified as the new Roscommon senior hurling manager.
Galway’s Brian Hanley is set to be appointed as the new Roscommon senior hurling manager.
The Athenry man previously guided Galway to two All Ireland minor titles while he has taken charge of the county’s U-20 side.
As a manager, he led the Westmeath senior and U-21 teams from 2011 to 2014, achieving many notable results. Among these was a narrow, one-point defeat to Dublin in the U21 Championship.
During his playing days, he won eight senior county titles and three All-Ireland club medals, scoring four points in the 2000 All-Ireland Final. He also secured county titles at every underage grade and represented Galway at both minor and U-21 level.
His backroom team will include Kieran Callan, Keith Daniels, Damian Lohan, and Kieran Farrell. The strength and conditioning coach will be Mike Frawley. Other roles will remain unchanged or will be confirmed at a later date.
He takes over from Kevin Sammon who guided Roscommon to the Nickey Rackard Cup title earlier this year while Hanley will be tasked with trying to ensure the Rossies survive in the Christy Ring Cup.
