DCU duo, Éanna Nolan and David Neary, are past pupils of Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown.

There was strong Roscommon representation on the DCU Fresher A football team that won their All-Ireland semi-final on Wednesday evening.

Roscommon Gaels’ Rory Carthy kicked 1-5 to help the Dublin-based university come from behind to beat Ulster University by a point, 2-12 to 2-11.

Western Gaels’ Éanna Nolan was also part of the successful DCU squad. There was also Roscommon representation on the sideline, with Strokestown’s David Neary part of the management ticket.

Both Nolan and Neary are past pupils of Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown, who congratulated both men on their success ahead of the school's Connacht Colleges B football final against Roscommon CBS on Saturday.

“Éanna had a brilliant game at wing-back and David is coach of the team. Best of luck in the final,” stated Scoil Mhuire on Facebook.

DCU are aiming to defend the crown they won last year when Fuerty’s Eoin Ward was joint captain.

They will face the winners of ATU Sligo and UCD in the final.
