As teams get used to new rules in Gaelic football, the sight of new players making their adult debut for clubs up and down County Roscommon is a familiar one ahead of the new club season.

As the county’s pre-season competitions present an opportunity to bed down the new rules at club level, St. Michael’s GAA Club highlighted how three talented players had come through its underage ranks to play their maiden game for the first team during last Sunday’s Northern Cup victory against Kilbride at Ardcarne Park.

Mark Tansey, Barry Monaghan and Ronan Guckian stepped up to the mark for James Martin’s side with assured displays, and they will get the chance to tip their toes further into adult football when St. Michael’s play Éire Óg in their Northern Cup semi-final this weekend.
