Tributes paid after passing of GAA club president

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Strokestown GAA Club President, Tony Flaherty.
The club, in a social media message, said everyone at Strokestown GAA was saddened to learn of his death.
The club extended its deepest sympathies to his wife Mae, sons Anthony, Shane and the extended Flaherty family.
Mr Flaherty passed away peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, Roosky on Sunday, January 5th.
He will be sadly missed by his sorrowing wife and sons, nephews, niece, cousins, especially Patty, sisters-in-law Anne Walsh and Sr. Phyllis (Marist Order), neighbours, relatives and many friends.
He is predeceased by his parents John Joe and Katie, sisters Myra and Dell, brothers Sean and Martin.
Following Funeral Mass this morning at 11 a.m. at Strokestown Parish Church, Mr Flaherty will be laid to rest afterwards in the local cemetery.
