She was defeated Spain’s Nagore Martinez Salcedo this morning on the 18th and final hole.
Costello enjoyed a tremendous start as she showed little nerves. The Roscommon golfer made two early birdies as she moved two up after the opening four holes.
With both golfers holding their nerve, Costello was able to keep herself in front. In fact she extended her advantage when a birdie on the ninth which saw her move three up at the turn.
From there, the home golfer began to raise her level. Martinez Salcedo quickly regained a shot to leave Costello two up entering the 13th hole.
The Spanish golfer managed to claim that hole before also winning the 15th to leave the two golfers all tied with three holes remaining. The pair shared the 16th and 17th holes to leave them all square heading to the 18th.
However, the Spanish golfer won the 18th hole and claimed victory. Despite defeat, Costello can be proud of her accomplishments during the week as she beat some top quality golfers to progress through to the final.
