Roscommon’s Thomas Higgins enjoyed an eventful start to his professional golf career.

Higgins provided one of the highlights of the opening day of the Amgen Irish Open, with an eagle on the par-five eighth. 

That helped him to two under par after the opening nine holes.

However, double bogeys at the 14th and 15th saw him finish four over, after a round of 74.
