One of Ireland’s most well-known hockey players has announced her retirement.
Chloe Watkins, who won a silver medal with her country at the World Cup in 2018 and represented Ireland at the Tokyo Olympics, announced her retirement from international hockey earlier this week.
Her mother, Pascal, (née Comer) is a native of Arm, Castlerea.
Since making her senior debut in 2010, Chloe earned 242 caps, making her one of Ireland’s most capped players.
In a tribute, Hockey Ireland described Chloe as an “incredible representative of Irish Hockey and Irish Sport as a whole” and wished her all the best in her future endeavours “on and off the hockey pitch”.
