Mona McSharry says it was a "bit of a relief" to hold on for a bronze medal at the European Aquatics Championships.
The Sligo swimmer was third in a dramatic close finish in the 200-metre breaststroke final in Paris.
It is McSharry's second medal of the week, having also claimed silver in the 100 metres breaststroke final on Wednesday.
The Olympic bronze medallist told Swim Ireland that she was not confident of another successful race after her semi-final performance.
Meanwhile, Ellen Walshe took home third in her women's 200 metres individual medley semi-final, sealing her place in the final.
Elsewhere, Danielle Hill and Grace Davison failed to progress from their semi-finals in the women's 100 metres backstroke.
