One of County Roscommon’s brightest rugby prospects has been called into the Irish rugby squad for this weekend’s Six Nations clash against France.

Bridewell native, Darragh Murray, has been brought into camp by Head Coach Simon Easterby ahead of what has been billed as the Six Nations decider at the Aviva Stadium next Saturday.

It is the first time the Connacht second-row has been called into the senior squad.

He becomes the tenth Connacht player to be called up by Ireland during this year’s Six Nations.

The former Roscommon underage footballer has been part of Emerging Ireland and Ireland A squads over the past year, but a maiden call-up to the senior squad is an indication of how Murray’s potential is viewed at the very top level of the sport in Ireland.

Ireland are top of the Six Nations table but need a win against France to put them in pole position to win the Grand Slam and Championship.
