Roscommon’s Darragh Murray has been named to start for the Ireland team that will play Portugal this Saturday.

Murray made his senior international debut in last weekend’s 34-5 win over Georgia and has retained his place for this Saturday’s game in Lisbon.

The Connacht player will be partnered by Tom Ahern in the second row this week with the Munster man making his first start after earning his debut off the bench against Georgia.

There are two debutants named in the starting XV. Connacht’s Shayne Bolton is set to start on the left wing while Alex Kendellen will be in from the off in the back row.

Meanwhile, Hugh Gavin is in line to make his debut after being named on the replacements.

Jack Crowley has been named to start at out half alongside his Munster team mate and Ireland captain Craig Casey. Ciaran Frawley is the replacement out half.

Overall, there are five players in the Ireland 23 with Cian Prendergast starting after missing last week’s game through illness. Scrum half Ben Murphy is in line for his second international cap after making his debut against Georgia.

The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Virgin Media One.
